Orca 1993 - 2001

After high school, I attended Smith College in Massachusetts, where I pursued a degree in sociology and French studies.  I graduated in 2005, and since February 2006, I've been residing in Paris, France where I live with my husband, Daniel.  We were married in May, 2007 in an intimate civil ceremony in France.  According to French law, you have to get married in the town hall before pursuing a "religious" ceremony.  So we'll be getting "married again" during a religious ceremony in Tucson in 2009.

I currently work for an international PR and media relations agency.  Generally people have a hard time comprehending what this means exactly - without going into all of the nitty gritty details, my job pretty much consists of securing media coverage for my clients.  I enjoy what I do immensely, although sometimes I feel that my English has dropped down to kindergarden level.  My parents enjoy teasing me about the most basic words that I can't remember in English, as well as new words I create that I think are English... but are really just French words with an American accent.

In my spare time I enjoy going to our neighborhood pool where I swim laps, although it would really help my performance if I had Jim (Lohmeier) poolside yelling at me to suck it up and do the ten 50's on the 45!

Best,
Jennifer Jones

"2008 National Champions!"

Brandy Collins

After swimming for the Orcas, I decided to go to the University of Nevada, Reno. I swam with UNR for a year but decided I missed my family and hometown too much so I came back to Tucson to attend the U of A. I am now in my senior year at the University of Arizona and swam for them the last three years.

I'm currently pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies which involves communication, elementary education and psychology.  I graduate this May and plan to attend Graduate School at the University of Georgia studying Sports Management.  I plan to take a Graduate Assistant Swim Coaching job that is available there.  Whether I use the coaching experience for a future coaching career or go into the professional sports industry is still up for question, but my options are open.

My head coach on the Orcas, Jim Lohmeier, instilled qualities like discipline, hard work, sacrifice, passion, and the love of swimming that has made me successful in my college swimming career.  Swimming for the U of A, with its amazing coaching staff and world-class team, has been the experience of a lifetime, to say the least!

  • Named the team's most valuable swimmer as a junior
  • A Speedo Academic All-American

  • Also lettered in cross-country and tennis

    Record Setters

I am currently going to school at Valparaiso in Indiana where I am studying International Business and Spanish.  I also swim on the university swim team.  I had a strong freshman season setting three new personal records and assisting the team to a 6th place finish at the Horizon League Championship meet.  At the conference meet I placed 10th in the 100 back with a 1:00.7, 11th in the 200 back with a 2:11.95, and 15th in the 100 fly with 1:00.2.  Earlier in the season I was a member of the 400 medley relay team that broke the school record!
